Get your creative on. A few tools and tips to up your pumpkin carving game this Halloween season.
- Break out the power tools. Use a power drill to create a series of uniform dots all over your pumpkin. Just make sure to space out your dots so you don't create one large hole.
- For a spooky, glowing pumpkin, don't carve all the way through. Use a lemon zester to scrape away layers at a time for a multi-dimensional look.
- Cookie cutters can be used for so much more than just yummy cookies. Use the cookie cutters as a stencil to carve from, or use a hammer or mallet to push them through. Etsy has a great collection of Halloween-themed cookie cutters to choose from.
- If you are just not feeling the whole "carving thing," grab some paint (with a brush or spray paint) and have fun decorating. We love this look via Good Housekeeping: paint the entire pumpkin black and then use faux flowers to create a crescent moon.
One final tip.....save your pumpkin seeds....clean em off, drizzle some olive oil and sea salt and bake at 350 for 10 minutes or until golden brown for a delicious fall snack.
